Even if you have a nice document done, after it is scanned sometimes the file size gets large. It will be very difficult and time-consuming to upload or share a large file over the internet. Is there a way to optimize scanned PDF but retaining the original quality? Yes. Here's the easiest solution with PDFelement.

PDFelement has the ability to compress scanned PDF documents. The standard PDF file size can be 600 dpi for printing, 300 dpi as a medium size, or 150 dpi for transmission in the online environment. The most important is the result after compression will definitely satisfy you.

PDFelement comes with an amazing OCR plugin, which can easily and accurately recognize texts and images in your scanned PDFs and turn them into searchable and editable files. Moreover, the OCR result can be stored in a standardized format, a dedicated XML schema, a PDF format or other popular file formats.

3 Steps to Optimize a Scanned PDF File

Step 1. Import Your Scanned PDF File

Launch PDFelement and then click the "Open File" button to import the target PDF. Select your file in your local folder and click "Open" to upload it to the program.

Step 2. Perform OCR (Optional)

When a scanned PDF is imported, PDFelement will automatically remind you of performing OCR. If you want to make your scanned PDF editable, you can click the "Perform OCR" button on the top information bar. And then choose an OCR language based on the language of your document.

If you don't want to perform OCR, you can just skip this step.
