Re: Occupational Therapy Position

Dear Mr. Mines,

I am applying for the Occupation Therapist position that appeared on therapyhr.org. Based on my 6 years' experience as an occupational therapist, I would like to apply for an open position at Better Health Services.

I am a certified and registered Occupational Therapist with the MBCOT (National Body for the Certification of Occupational Therapists) and a master's graduate in 2016 in occupational therapy from the University of North Carolina. Since achieving my certification I have been working with Oceanview Hospital as Occupational Therapists for 5 years. I have been performing diverse tasks from speeding up rehabilitation patient processes after accidents and offering pyscho-support to the victims to help them cope with their new normal and daily activities. My duties also include in-home and outpatient therapeutic care.

As a rule, I work with patients in creating effective treatment plans that in the process have helped many to:

  • Enhance their muscle wellbeing and strength, protect their joints and improve standing and sitting toleration
  • Boosted coordination, mobility, balance and overall endurance
  • Increased sensory awareness
  • Improved perceptual skills and cognitive abilities
  • Increased work tasks and daily activities

Over the years I have worked further with diverse healthcare teams in the hospital to enhance patients' rehabilitation from patients as young as 4 years of age to 90. Patients I have generally worked showcase a range of disabilities from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke, muscular dystrophy, limb amputation, lupus, osteoarthritis, and cystic fibrosis among other conditions.

My skills in the application of evidence-based therapeutic practice help offer diverse occupational therapy solutions such as therapeutic ultrasound, massage, electrical stimulation, ice water and heat, light therapy and shortwave diathermy. I am also constantly engaged in helping patients to effectively adjust to orthotics and prosthetics plus other diverse adaptive equipment in the gentlest and kindest patient-OT interactions.

Better Health Services focus and aim to offer elderly and young patients the utmost quality care is also a passion I hold dear and joining the team would be a delight. Do give me a call or email me at the earliest opportunity to schedule an interview to discuss your needs and the position.

Thank you for your time and kind consideration.

Sincerely,
Ray Mistral

Tips for Writing an Occupational Therapy Cover Letter

  • Maintain a professional tone: It's highly important to maintain a professional tone throughout your occupational therapy cover letter. A conversational tone can be used and definitely so but professionalism should be maintained throughout. Occupation therapy is a professional job and as a professional aspirant, you need to maintain this. Avoid short forms, casual and informal language as much as you can.
  • Relevancy: Ensuring the occupational therapy cover letter remains as concise as possible is highly critical. It means you must be relevant to the open position. Only use skills, experiences, and qualifications relevant to the specific occupation job you're applying for as indicated in the job description. Do use keywords and phrases in the cover letter wherever possible, such as years of experience, qualification, skills, degree among others. It helps the recruiter to find your letter fast if doing so from a database.
  • Use cover letter example: While using the job description to write your occupational therapist cover letter and ensuring you're as original as possible, a cover letter sample can help you maintain the right format, add the important details and leave nothing important out. While you must customize the example to meet the needs of the specific job open, the sample ensures you don't go overboard or miss anything while being as authentic as possible in your letter.
  • Proofread: Most definitely, the occupational therapist cover letter is the first impression the recruiter will have of you. Ensuring you remain as impressive and striking as ever is critical. Read your cover letter and rectify all typos, formatting errors, grammatical mistakes and unavoidable glitches. Ask a friend to read through on your behalf, read aloud or ask a professional editor to read it through and rectify any error.
