Dear Lawrence,

I am writing to you to apply for the public relations coordinator role at your organization and believe I would be perfect for the job.

Two years ago, I graduated with a First-Class Honors degree in Journalism for the MidState School of Media and embarked on a freelance journalism career gaining bylines in many different regional and national newspapers and magazine. After working with many different PR officers for my work I decided I would like a career change and embarked on a Public Relations Masters Degree program which I am soon to complete.

During my Masters I have also been working as a trainee at a PR firm, shadowing the main staff and working on campaigns. With my knowledge and success in journalism combined with my theoretical and practical understanding of PR and audiences, I believe I have the perfect balance to conduct engaging campaigns.

I understand that there will be other applicants with more experience in the field but feel that few will have my range of knowledge of both sides of the PR coin, journalist and PR officer, and the best ways to target audiences.

Your company works in an emotive area that can suffer from negative public perceptions and a wrong impression of how you work. I am a huge admirer of your outgoing PR officer's positive campaigns and the manner in which they kept your company's narrative in the public eye and positive. This is something I will also achieve for you and a challenge that I would welcome taking on.

I would also welcome the opportunity to explain my skills and experience in more detail in relation to the job role. I am available for a follow-up conversation at any time.

Thanks for your time,

Kind Regards,
John Clarkson
