"I have downloaded some PDF eBooks from the Internet and don't know how to upload PDF files to Kindle for reading. Is there any easy way to help me get these eBooks in Kindle for reading on the go? Any suggestion or idea? Thanks"

Don't know how to transfer PDF files to Kindle? This is one downside to Kindle. Unlike iPad, where if you need to read a PDF eBook, you just drag-N-drop the PDF to iTunes and sync it with your iPad. Kindle's a little more complicated!  In this article 2 basic way to transfer PDF files to Kindle are introduced. Follow the steps and try by yourself. 

Solution 01 Transfer PDF eBooks to Kindle via USB

One of the basic way to transfer PDF eBooks to Kindle is to use USB cable to transfer files.

Step 1. Connect your Kindle with computer via the USB cable that Kindle comes with.

Step 2. After connecting Kindle to computer successfully, find the Kindle on your computer. On Windows PC, double-click My Computer to find the external hard drive. On Mac, you may see the hard drive is on the desktop.

Step 3. Double-click the Kindle drive to open it and find the folder named as Document. After opening it, drag and drop PDF files to the folder. That's it. Later you can open your Kindle to find the PDF eBooks are there.


Solution 02 Sync PDF eBooks to Kindle via Kindle email

If you don't want to plug in USB cable to transfer PDF to Kindle, you should try the wireless way - sync PDF eBooks to Kindle via Kindle email. It's more convenient is aving and syncing PDF to Kindle.

Step 1. You should Sign in to your Kindle account at Amazon.com to find out what your Kindle E-mail Address is. This email address will be ended with @Kindle.com.

Step 2. Associate your email address with your Amazon account.

Step 3. Attach PDF eBooks to your email and send it to your Amazon e-mail address.

Step 4. Connect your Kindle with Wi-Fi, and open and sync the PDF to your Kindle.


The above ways are only available to Kindle DX and Kindles with Software version 2.3 which support reading PDF. Otherwise, you have to convert PDF to plain text for Kindle. And you should pay special attention to the PDF files to make sure it's not password protected PDF. If the PDF eBook is protected with password, you should remove PDF protection. Otherwise, you can't open it with Kindle at all.
