How to Copy Text from PDF

PDF a.k.a Portable Document Format is the easiest yet most secure way of sending and receiving the important documents. Once you have created a PDF file, it will not be edited that easily like a Word, PowerPoint or Excel sheet. Even sometimes when you will copy text from PDF, it will not copy the exact text and the formatting of the copied text will be messed up. But now I will offer you a solution that can effectively solve the problem.

Part 1The Program Copying Text from PDF to Word

When it comes to PDF managing, no one can do it better than Wondershare PDFelement (PDFelement for Mac). With it, you can either add new text to your document, delete the already present text or can also modify the text with the new text. Apart from text, you can also replace the images in the PDF file, can resize them or adjust their orientation. One of the best features is the built-in OCR tool which will let you extract the text from the scanned images in the PDF file.

In addition, PDFelement lets you can create PDF from different images, blank pages, slides or even the sheets. Similarly, you can convert any PDF file into Word, PPT, Excel sheets or even webpages. Once you have created a PDF file, it can also be protected using a strong password to prevent unauthorized accessing and editing.

Part 2 How to Copy Text out of PDF File

Before you continue, you will need to download the latest version of Wondershare PDFelement. Once the download is complete, the software has very simple guide for the installation process. Simply run the downloaded program and it will be installed in few seconds.

Step 1. Add PDF to PDFelement

Now, Run the recently installed Wondershare PDFelement and open the PDF document that you want to copy. On the Home window, click on the "Open File" button. Now, select the PDF file from which you want to copy the text and click on the "Open" button again.

Step 2. Copy PDF Text

Once the PDF file is opened, go to the required page of the PDF file. Click on the "Edit" tab on the tool bar and then click on the "Select" button. Now, select the text that you want to copy and there are two ways of copying that text:

  • Right click on the text and select "Copy Text"
  • Press "Ctrl + C" while selecting the text

Then you can paste the text to a Word or a text document.

Step 3. Edit Your PDF (Optional)

Apart from selecting and copying text, you can also edit the text in the PDF using PDFelement. The option to edit the PDF is found under the same "Edit" tab.

Now go back to your PDF file and click on the text that you want to edit, a blue box will be shown around the text which will let you edit the text without any problem.

Step 4. Save PDF File

After editing or copying the text from the PDF file, you will have to save it before closing the file. Click on the "File" tab in the top left corner and select the "Save" button. Now, name the PDF file and save it on your computer.
