How to Add Link to PDF Files in Mac/Windows PC

"I have some PDF eBooks, but they contain no links to chapters or anything. I need to add hyperlink to the PDF to make them easy to read. Any idea? Thank you!"

As a PDF user, I usually add a hyperlink to a PDF file when I want to explain to people what a specific item means or just connect the item with the related info. Recently, I found that many people are eager to know how to add link to a PDF file on both windows and Mac. This is the idea where this article comes from. In the following, I’d like to share my way to add links to PDF files with you.

Part 01: How to Add links to PDF on Windows

Step 1:Download Wondershare PDFelement

Put the first thing first. The first thing we should do is select a PDF tool to add hyperlinks to a PDF document on Windows. I myself use Wondershare PDFelement. Both the Windows and Mac version are available. For Windows 8 and Windows 7 users, download Wondershare PDFelement.

Step 2: Add hyperlink to a PDF file in Mac OS X Mountain Lion or Windows 8

Double-click the quick start icon on the desktop to launch Wondershare PDFelement. And then open the PDF file you like to add link to with this tool.

On Windows PDF tool, go to the Edit menu. Click the Link button. And then move your mouse the PDF file, select the PDF text where you want to add link. When you do this, a pop-up will appear.

On the pop-up dialogue box, you can enter the URL of a web page or a PDF page where you want this PDF to be linked to. And then click the Set Link button to finish adding a link to the PDF file.

Step 3: Edit hyperlink as you want

Double-click the link area to edit the link as you want, or you can just right-click the link area and select Edit Link.

Part 02: How to Add links to PDF on Mac

Step 1:Download Wondershare PDFelement for Mac

Step 2: Add hyperlink to a PDF file in Mac OS X Mountain Lion

Launch Wondershare PDFelement for Mac after installation and open the PDF file that you want to add links to. Then go to the Tools pane on the right and choose Add or Edit Link under the Edit menu. Drag a rectangle on your PDF file and double-click the area to add the link. On the pop-up dialogue box, you can choose to enter the URL of a web page or select a PDF page to link to.

Step 3: Edit hyperlink as you want

You can double click the link area to edit the link whenever you want. And to enable the link, you will need to exit the link editing mode by clicking the Close Add or Edit Link under the Edit menu on the right Tools pane.
