How to Add Picture to PDF Files in Mac

Do not know how to add image to PDF files in Mac OS X Yosemite/Mavericks? In fact, it is very easy once you find a professional PDF tool for help. The following is all about how to add image to PDF file on iMac, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. Read on to learn the details.

To add images to PDF file in Mac, you acutally have 2 solutions there. One is using the Preview in the Mac OS, another is with the help of a PDF editor like Wondershare PDFelement for Mac if you don't have much budget for Adobe Acrobat. Let's see how to add an image to PDF file by using the 2 solutions.

Solution 1: Adding Images to PDF with Preview in Mac

Actually we can easily add a picture to the existing PDF wit the help of Preview in Mac, the generally idea is to save the original PDF to image, then add images to it and convert it back PDF again, here are the step by step tutorial as below for your reference.

Step 1: Open the PDF with Preview and click File -> Export... to save as an image.

Step 2: Open the converted image with Preview again and drag the new image we want to the thumbnail area.

Note: Make sure the Thumbnails is selected.

Step 3: Select all of the images and click File -> Print.

Step 4: Click the dropdown button and choose Save as PDF..., OK, the image is successfully added in the PDF.

This solution is totally free and convenient, but you can not easily place the image to where you desired, and the converted PDF is not searchable and editable, you might need to convert the PDF to editable formats with the help of OCR tools.

Solution 2: Adding Images to PDF with PDFelement

Step 1:Download and install Wondershare PDFelement for Mac

Click the download button to download the .dmg installation file. After you get it, install it on your Mac. If you have a Windows PC, you can download Wondershare PDFelement (for Windows). 


Step 2:Locate the "Add Image" feature

Click the Edit menu in the Tools Pane on the right side, and then click Add Image button under the Content Edit submenu.

Step 3: Add image to a PDF

Select the image from your computer files and drag the image to put where you need to insert the image. When you do this, you'll see the image overlaying the current PDF page.

Click on the image to reveal the light blue border. And then drag it to the right place on the PDF page and drag to re-size it. So that's all for adding images to PDF with PDFelement. It is very easy, isn't it? So try it yourself to add images to PDF.
